Aluminium Windows and Doors for Nigeria: Coastal Heat, Northern Dust
Lagos keeps salt and humidity in the air for most of the year, and the dry season sends Harmattan dust down from the north until it settles in every track and sill. A window that handles one of those conditions can struggle in the other, and Nigerian residential volume usually has to answer both. Adam Alux Systems has produced aluminium windows and doors since 1997 at three bases in China, across 35 series.

Dust that reaches every channel
Harmattan dust is fine enough to pass a window that is closed, and it collects in a track until a leaf stops running true. Open, self-cleaning drainage lets the dust wash out with the first rain instead of packing into a pocket, and the EPDM foam gasket wipes the sash edge on every close. A screen on the opening keeps the worst of it out of the room.
Lagos: heat, humidity, salt
The coastal belt runs hot and humid, and a unit closed for air-conditioning shows the load on the glass by midday. 5-20 A-5 insulating glass is standard on the window series and covers most of that load. On the lagoon side and out toward the beaches, fluorocarbon holds its colour where anodising would chalk, and stainless steel track keeps a sliding leaf moving through the wet season.
Volume residential, repeated sizes
Nigerian housing work repeats a handful of opening sizes across many units, which suits a factory running 35 series from its own extrusion. The 50 series casement window covers bedrooms on a 50 mm frame. Balconies take the 35x16 slim sliding door, terrace fronts take the slider-40 with three synchronised leaves on one track, and larger rooms take the 110 series casement with five chambers.
Apapa, Tin Can, Onne
Containers leave for Apapa, Tin Can Island or Onne as FCL loads, and the packing plan is agreed with the order because a Lagos clearance yard is hard on cartons. Every quotation carries a PDF dimension pack with CAD drawings on request, and private-label packing lets a distributor sell under its own name.
FAQ
Frequently asked
Which certificate covers a Nigerian shipment?
The only third-party document is a CE attestation to EN 14351-1, certificate M.2024.206.C101817, issued by UDEM. Nigerian product registration and local approval are not held, so the specification is set on the drawings and fixed in the quotation.
Which series suits volume housing in Nigeria?
The 50 series casement for bedroom and kitchen openings, because it carries 1.2 mm walls and ships with a screen. The 35x16 door takes balconies, slider-40 takes a wide terrace with three leaves on one track, and the 110 series with five chambers handles the larger living rooms.
Does a Nigerian house need insulating glass?
Where the room is air-conditioned, yes. A 5-20 A-5 unit cuts the load that reaches the glass and keeps the compressor from running flat out at midday. Ventilated rooms and service areas can take single glass, and both builds are quoted side by side so the choice is visible.
How does the window cope with Harmattan dust?
Through the drainage as much as the seal. The sill drains openly and cleans itself, so dust that settles is flushed out instead of being trapped, and the EPDM foam gasket wipes the sash on each close. A screen on the opening stops the airborne share before it reaches the track.
What is the lead time to Lagos?
Lead time is confirmed with the quotation, since it moves with series, glazing, finish and the container plan. The dimension pack arrives with the quote, a sample can be sent ahead, and the order releases to production once the drawings are signed.
