Cast Aluminium Security Doors: Types, Design and Use
Cast aluminium is neither a finish nor a profile family. It is a leaf poured in a mould, so a relief can run across the whole face without a joint, and the door reads as one piece from the threshold to the head. That is why the type turns up on villa entrances and on hotel fronts where a printed pattern or a glazed panel would look thin. This guide covers the types, the design decisions and the security questions that belong to a cast leaf.
The types in the entrance range
Three arrangements carry most of the work. A one-piece cast face, as in the Anyue line, gives a full-height relief with no joints across the leaf. An offset pivot hangs the leaf clear of the reveal, so it swings past a thick surround. A pair splits a wide opening into two leaves. Each type changes the frame, the threshold and the hardware, so the type is settled before the finish.
Design on a cast face
A cast face carries relief, and relief is read in raking light. A deep pattern looks heavier on a north elevation than on a face that takes direct sun, and a pale colour flattens a shallow pattern while a dark colour deepens it. Glazing takes the place of a panel where daylight has to reach the hall. Draw the pattern at the size it will be built, because a small sample hides how it reads across a full leaf.
Security in the leaf, the frame and the lock
Security on a door is a system rather than a thickness. The cast leaf gives mass, the thermal-break frame gives the fixing, and a multi-point lock with a keyed handle ties the two together. A pivot or offset hinge carries the leaf weight clear of the jamb, which keeps the seal. Ask where the lock case sits inside the leaf, since a deep relief leaves less material around it. Confirm the layout on the drawing.
Glass, colour and the entrance scene
Automotive-grade tempered glass is standard on the door range, in clear, frosted, reeded and fluted builds, and the build is fixed per project. Finishes run to anodised, powder coated and fluorocarbon, with RAL matching and two-tone faces on request, so a cast leaf can line up with a window schedule on the same facade. Approve the colour on the cast surface, because relief changes how a shade reads.
Specifying a cast entrance
Send the opening size, the reveal, the leaf configuration and the relief direction, with the glass and the finish. The quotation returns with the dimensional pack as a PDF, CAD on request, and the hardware layout. A sample profile set and a finished test unit can be reviewed before production. OEM and ODM supply with private-label packing is available, and lead time is confirmed with the quotation.
FAQ
Frequently asked
What is a cast aluminium security door?
A door whose leaf face is cast in a mould rather than assembled from profiles and panels, so a relief can run across the full leaf without a joint. It hangs in a thermal-break aluminium frame and closes on a multi-point lock with a keyed handle. The mass sits in the leaf; the fixing and the seal sit in the frame.
Which is better, aluminium or cast aluminium?
They solve different problems. An extruded aluminium door takes glazing, screens and grille inserts and suits a repeat schedule across a block. A cast leaf gives a sculpted face and weight at a single entrance. Villas and hotel fronts usually take the cast leaf, while apartment work stays with the extruded range for consistency.
Is a cast aluminium door durable?
The leaf is thick in section, so a knock does not deform it the way a thin panel dents, and the frame behind it is extruded 6063-T5 aluminium with a thermal break. Finishes run to anodised, powder coated and fluorocarbon, and RAL matching is available. Coastal work takes fluorocarbon, since salt reaches the edges first.
Can a cast door carry glass?
Yes. Automotive-grade tempered glass is standard on the door range, in clear, frosted, reeded and fluted builds, and the panel is set into the cast face. The build and the panel size are fixed per project, so send the elevation with the opening when the enquiry goes out.
How is a cast entrance quoted?
From the opening size, the reveal depth, the leaf configuration and the relief, plus the glass and the finish. The quotation carries the dimensional pack as a PDF, with CAD on request, and the hardware layout. A sample and a finished test unit can be reviewed first, and lead time is confirmed with the quotation.
