Aluprof Alternative: What a System Brand Buyer Pays For
Aluprof is a Polish aluminium systems supplier, and a buyer who names it usually has a reason behind the name: a consultant wrote the system into the specification, or a facade contractor has built with it before and trusts the details. The useful question is not whether the system performs. It is which share of the price buys the system and which share buys the network wrapped around it, and where a factory order can carry the second part without disturbing the first.
What the system name is paying for
Three things sit inside a licensed system. The first is design authority, so an engineer can specify the section and have the drawing accepted without proving the profile again. The second is published performance evidence, held once and reused across every project that takes the same assembly. The third is a fabricator network, so a building in another city can be made, serviced and repaired by someone already approved. None of those three is metal. All of them are paid for inside the profile price.
Where the chain adds its margin
A system house sells to approved fabricators, who sell to a main contractor, who sells to the client, and each step holds stock, carries a warranty and keeps a technical desk open. That structure is what makes a large project bankable, and it is also why a small buyer pays for services he never calls. Asking for the split between material and service is legitimate. A supplier who cannot show the split is quoting a name rather than a product.
Projects that should stay with a system brand
Keep the system where the specification is fixed by others and cannot be reopened: a consultant led tower, a building with a performance warranty written around a named assembly, or a site where a local fabricator must service the windows for a decade. In those cases the value is the approval route and the network, and a different section would cost more in correspondence than it saves in metal.
Projects where a factory order is equivalent
A factory order stands level where the buyer controls the specification: repeated openings across a housing block, a hotel refurbishment, a distributor building stock, or a job where the requirement is a glass build plus a section deep enough to carry it. What has to be replaced is not the metal but the paperwork, so the enquiry must carry the documents the system house would have supplied by default.
Four checks that make the two comparable
Compare on four items and nothing else. First, the dimensional pack: frame and sash sections with the glazing line, hardware cut-outs and the finish code, sent as a PDF with CAD on request. Second, sample profiles and a finished test unit before production. Third, the finish route, whether anodised, thermal transfer or fluorocarbon, with RAL matching and two-tone quoted on request. Fourth, in-house extrusion in 6063-T5, which is where alloy and tolerance are actually controlled.
FAQ
Frequently asked
What does a licensed aluminium system include?
Three components: the design authority to have a section accepted without proving it again, performance evidence published once for every project using that assembly, and a network of approved fabricators who can build and service the product locally. The metal is the visible part; the rest is what the brand price carries.
When is a factory direct window not equivalent?
When the contract names an assembly and a warranty chain a factory cannot enter, or when a consultant will not accept a substitution. In that case the saving in material is spent on correspondence and approval. Where the buyer controls the specification, the comparison is fair and the four checks above apply.
How do I compare two offers fairly?
Send one opening schedule to both, with the same glass build, the same finish code and the same list of documents wanted back. Read the replies against each other rather than against a catalogue. A comparison that starts from a different glass or a different wall thickness measures nothing at all.
Does a factory order lose the performance evidence?
It changes hands. The evidence arrives as the dimensional pack, the alloy and the wall thickness stated for each member, and a finished test unit that can be inspected before production. What the buyer gives up is the pre-approved status, so the consultant or the local authority has to accept the documents on their own.
What finish should I ask for on a coastal site?
Fluorocarbon where salt and sun arrive together, with RAL matching to hold the scheme. Anodised and thermal transfer finishes suit sheltered elevations. Two-tone faces are quoted on request where the interior differs from the facade. Ask for the finish on the actual section, since a colour reads differently on a profiled face.
